Railgun was designed by Senior Level Designer Matt «Wils» Wilson.

Commentaries :
Bongoboy, Splash Damage's designer said on the S.D.' board :

When he explains the incredible number of men to use Dora, he also said with irony :

«So consider yourself lucky that all you have to do is drive two ammo tugs, construct some firing controls and hit Fire...
And yes, we shrank Dora a little for the map «Railgun». She was just too big for us
We do have, somewhere, a photo of Fluffy_Gimp standing next to a Dora shell. It's one of the few things that are taller than he is.»

Wills, Splash Damage's designer :
«[...] The railgun in erm, Railgun, is pretty much the right size compared to the player model. Unfortunately, ET is a little bit weird when it comes to proportion and scale, so things look a lot smaller than they actually are for various reasons. Being able to leap six foot high crates and run at 50mph might have something to do with it... [...]»

Gorobei (www.real-et.com) gives his advice :

«Of course the game has only a little relation with the reality. Nobody can trick jumping or surviving to 10 mp 40's impacts, also if it's in the foot.
But Splash Damage offers us an excellent map for fragging but also and excellent occasion to sensiblize ourselves to a conflict which again very present in our collective consciousness.
I hope that the file will inform you on a little peace of History. Those big guns' picture (which are propangada, don't take this at first sense) musn't make you forgetting the pain and mutilations given to many people. The heaviest injuries aren't always the most perceptible.
How many ancient military men who has made Verdun, civils whore were take under shellings couldn't make one peaceful night from this time to their death ?
Allelujah!!!!»
